City leaders have thanked the community for containing the Covid-19 outbreak in Princes Park ward – but are warning that the city must stay vigilant and keep social distancing.

In a letter being delivered to all Liverpool households, Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson and Director of Public Health Matt Ashton told residents, 'We can get through this, but we are not there yet.'

Hyper-local measures put in place helped confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Princes Park area return to the green 'low' band of Public Health England’s traffic-light system.

Although it's believed the approach has been successful, residents are asked to continue to:

• keep a two-metre distance from people other than those you live with, wherever possible
• wash your hands with soap and water as often as you can, or use hand gel
• wear a face covering, if you are able, over your nose and down to and over your chin. These must be worn on public transport, in transport hubs, in shops, in indoor shopping centres and in banks and post offices. They must now also be worn in other venues such as cinemas, museums, bingo halls, libraries and hair salons
